GENESIS OF THE VALUE-RELATED GROUNDS OF ENGINEERING ACTIVITY

Annotation

The article is devoted to genesis of professional engineering education seen as the most important type of work. It also touches upon value-related aspect of professional readiness of an engineer since Renaissance till present time. First, the author states that value implications of engineering activity have been closely connected with values of craft and technical activity. Every engineer has always been a scientist-experimenter. By the beginning of the XX century, engineering profession included a complete set of different types of activity: doing inventive, designing, projecting and technological tasks in various areas. At the following stage of engineering activity evolution, creativity and inventiveness gradually get to be appreciated. The authors emphasize that the values of engineering design meant working out a whole technical system.
