DEVELOPING AMERICAN GIFTED SECONDARY SCHOOL LEARNER PROGRAM

Annotation

The article is devoted to the research into American gifted secondary-school learners’ programs in terms of identification of gifted/talented learners and modification of instruction process within American secondary schools. As regards identification of giftedness among secondary school children, the most successful programs tend to be those which focus on mass involvement of children into the assessment procedure including traditionally ignored categories of learners, as well as skills improvement of teaching staff who act the main role in nominating for the gifted program. The latter should involve various teaching strategies that determine individual and differentiative approach to teaching, such as “step curriculum” and alike.
