Annotation

The article reveals theoretical aspects of independent work organization in higher educational institution: motivation for independent work, organization types, functions, principles. The author considers students’ independent work as their own cognitive activity operating according to the following system «information → knowledge → information». The author feels sure that independent work organization in higher educational institutions should be referred to as developing ability of students to arrange individual course of self-education.
