Annotation

The article deals with the term «gender competence of pupils», its characteristic features and components. The author provides basic concepts connected with the gender theory and implementation of gender approach in education as well as reveals the factors determining actualization of gender component in education in modern conditions. The role of school as one of the main institutes of gender socialization for the rising generation is shown. The author supports the idea that senior school age is a major stage of gender competence development.
