RESEARCH INTO CHILDREN-PARENTAL RELATIONSHIPS IN DIFFERENT FOREIGN SCIENTIFIC SCHOOLS AND RESEARCH AREAS: THEORETICAL REVIEW

Annotation

The article is devoted to the nature, specific features and structural components of children-parental relationships reflected in works of well-known foreign scientists who belong to various scientific schools and research areas (psychoanalysis, behaviorism, Gestalt psychology, humanistic psychology, etc.). It is shown that children-parental relationships are characterized by strong emotional displays from both children and parents’ sides. The authors name ambivalence that quite often leads to destructiveness as the specific feature of this kind of relationships. The authors emphasize great importance of communication style with the child for personality development. The article deals with the concept “parenthood” as the integrated psychological formation of personality (father and-or mother), including a set of value orientations, implications and expectations, parental feelings, attitudes and standpoints, parental responsibility and style of family education.
