Annotation

The article raises the problem of developing ethnic identity of the person since preschool age being the purpose of ethno and polycultural education of children in the context of preschool educational organizations. Basing on experience of research of the authors in Northwest Region of Russia, the authors analyze advantages of the systematic, activity-based and integrative approaches to working out the system of ethnocultural education. This system is built around making preschool children familiar with the architecture of their native city. The presented materials contain a brief description of experimental techniques and conclusions that underpin designing the system of ethnocultural education for over-fives based on teaching them about the architecture of their city. Ethnocultural education is treated in the article as a specially organized process aimed at individual development of the culture of that ethnic community which one belongs to.
