INDEPENDENT EVALUATION OF PROGRESS IN THE SYSTEM OF LEARNER-CENTERED EDUCATION

Annotation

According to the article, efficient evaluation system is one of the conditions for providing learner-centered education. The author of the article analyses opportunities offered by various evaluation means in connection with the main tasks of competence-based approach in teaching different courses. The author argues the need to build up the systematic theory and practice of pedagogical measurements. The article covers the main directions in working out modern evaluation means which provide reliable and valid results. The use of scales for evaluation of competences enables to guarantee achievement of the planned results. The author gives outline to the most common problems connected with academic progress evaluation and states the positive influence of evaluation means on the development of students in the context of competence-based approach.
