DEVELOPMENT OF PERSONAL SENSES OF STUDENTS AS PART OF TEACHING A FOREIGN LANGUAGE

Annotation

The author of the article proceeds from the idea that higher motivation and successful learning of a foreign language depends on personal senses. The article describes technologies and methods aimed at revealing junior students’ intentions of learning languages (the method of focus-group interview, the method of intent-analysis). Data analysis of intentions of students who learn English makes it possible to come to the conclusion that the main intention is “achieving high academic grades” (60%). 20% of students want to “achieve success in future” by speaking English and 15% of students are interested in the subject, while 5% “do not care about anything”. The obtained results have been discussed in the paper. The author shares some methods of sense-making influence aimed at correction of personal intentions of students.
