EDUCATION OF THE PERSON OF CULTURE IN THE COURSE OF PREPARING LINGUISTS-TRANSLATORS

Annotation

The article deals with the development of a person of culture in academic courses for linguists-translators. According to the authors, this aim can be achieved through the research project organized in collaboration with museums. During this project students translate descriptions of museum exhibits from Russian into English. The project is realized in terms of culture-congruent personality-focused education and is aimed at the development of professional competences of future translators and formation of cultural, well-educated citizens. The main characteristics of the project are: focus on civil aspects of learning, culture-congruent aspect, personality-focused technologies. The civil orientation of the project is understood as education of the citizens interested in development of their country and home town, the citizens who understand interests of the people and the state and take an active part in social and cultural life of the university and their hometown of Taganrog.
