SHAPING TRADITIONAL CULTURAL VALUES OF INTENDING BACHELORS OF ARTS (THROUGH THE EXAMPLE OF ARTS AND CRAFTS OF THE SLAVIC PEOPLE)

Annotation

The article is concerned with the relevance and the need to enhance artistic education of undergraduates. The author defines the problems of traditional culture development in the modern society and makes an assumption that by studying traditional culture of the Slavic people (e.g. arts and crafts) students of departments of arts not only increase their general cultural level, but also the level of public consciousness. The paper describes the system of traditional Slavic culture (the fields of art: literature, fine arts, sculpture; folklore: holidays and festivals, folk customs, mythology; historical monuments, ancient settlements, fortresses). By learning about artistic and historical values of jewelry art (fibulas dated back to the 1–7th centuries, found in the territory of Ukraine in Pobuzhye, the Dnieper Bank, Poltava province), students come to realize the great importance of arts and crafts in the culture of ancient people.
