Annotation

The article is devoted to the issue of professional self-identity of students in the course of higher education. The author analyses existing approaches to the content and features of professional consciousness development. The author proves similarity in the views of many researches into the content of self-identity which is most often presented by the professional images and defines the vision of the profession and the world around. The images of professional self-identity discussed in different psychological and pedagogical researches can be differentiated into three groups which correspond to the directions of the author’s concept of professionalizing personality including development of professionally important qualities and the attitude towards them, idea of professional activity and entering the professional setting and creation of professional relationships.
