PROFESSIONALLY FOCUSED MATHEMATICAL EDUCATION OF STUDENTS OF HIGHER EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS

Annotation

The article deals with the problem of mathematical education of students of higher educational institutions. Professionally focused training is seen as one way to solve it. The article provides interpretation of the results of the international programs of quality assessment TIMSS and PISA aimed at assessing Russian school students in the field of mathematics. The author suggests development and implementation of an adaptive system of mathematical education of higher school students which is supposed to take into consideration professional content of mathematical disciplines depending on students’ major. Within the given system, the paper gives outline to the requirements to mathematical competence of students, the content of mathematical preparation and professionally focused tasks. The paper also covers the main functions of the developed adaptive system.
