Annotation

The author looks into possibilities of increasing students’ motivation to study a foreign language raising their interest to linguistic phenomena and language system as a whole. Language system must become the subject matter of students’ activities. The student should acquire methods of language orientation based on the essential linguistic regularities. As an example the article contains the strategy of forming non-linear orientation in a foreign text. Acquiring this method increases students’ interest in studying the system of any language, forms the basis for the further selfdevelopment and improvement of linguistic competence and increases motivation to study foreign languages.
