Annotation

The article defines the concept of scientific potential of educational system and the problem of its effective development. The study of educational achievements and their aggregate representation is viewed as one of the basic conditions of the problem realisation. The methodological basis of all-round study is the systematic and multicriterion analysis of the multipleparameter information characterizing the educational space of a certain country or a territory. The system of indicators functions as assessment characteristics. Carrying out the retrospective analysis of the information the authors assessed and forecast the scientific potential of the Russian Federation and the South Federal District educational systems and carried out their comparative analysis. The general structure of scientific-qualifying works is established, the scientific level of researchers, spectrum and tendencies of research in the field of education are presented in the article.
