Annotation

The article tracks the evolution of self-determination in works on pedagogy from ancient period to its present sate. The influence of that or another epoch on the development of pedagogical concepts and concepts of upbringing in education is reflected in the article. The article shows the peculiarities of personality semantic sphere development within political and social systems of various historical periods and their interdependence. It was noted that in the educational history the approach aiming at preserving pedagogical traditions and introducing innovations through the combination of such interconnected elements like conservation, continuity and further development. This point of view promotes self-determination of a schoolchild in present-day conditions
