EDUCATION IN SOCIOLOGICAL DISCOURSE

Annotation

The understanding of significance of education is not new. For centuries many scientists, writers and politicians have emphasised its paramount importance. Education occupies a very special position in the system of forms and kinds of human activities. On the one hand, it is truly catholic contrary to other activities, as every person somehow or other participates in educational process. Sociology of education has long served as a tool of empiric research results analysis. For a long time the Russian scientists have been interested in education because of its major role in social mobility, elite groups formation, job placement, employment and unemployment, etc. The author proves the necessity to avoid disciplinary delimitation of the study subject, which doesn’t reflect its integrated character.
