FORMATION OF INTERDISCIPLINARY LINKS BETWEEN A FOREIGN LANGUAGE AND CULTURAL STUDIES

Annotation

Realization of the interdisciplinary approach should become one of the major principles of higher education, especially in the sphere of humanities. This article shows how it can be achieved at the technical faculties of Polytechnic University on the basis of the interdisciplinary links between the courses of English and Cultural Studies. The author analyses the influence of the interdisciplinary approach on the organization of the educational process and development of the students’ cultural competence as well as on the quality of higher education in general. The web-site “Best World Museums” and methodological recommendations for teachers do not only serve to ensure the second year students’ better understanding of the course “Cultural Studies”, but also to enrich the syllabus of the discipline “Foreign Language.”
