SELF-ACTUALISATION OF AN INDIVIDUAL IN PROFESSIONAL RE-TRAINING

Annotation

This article presents the results of empiric research of interdependence between self-actualisation of an individual with motives incentivizing professional and educational activities of students getting their second professional education. Self-actualization was studied with the help of the Russian version of Shostrom’s Personal Orientation Inventory (POI). The results showed that professional and educational motives are correlated with the following elements of self-actualisation: Self-Respect, Self-Acceptance, Self-Actualizing Value, Spontaneity, Acceptance of Aggression, Creativity, Inner Directed Support. The materials of the present research may be useful in career counseling, career planning and adult education.
