TOLERANCE AS A FACTOR OF STABILITY AND SUSTAINABILITY OF INTER-ETHNIC RELATIONS AMONG YOUNG PEOPLE IN THE SOUTH OF RUSSIA

Annotation

The article discusses the need to improve inter-ethnic relations among young people in order to raise the level of tolerance, reduce tension and prevent ethnic conflicts in Southern Russia, characterised by multicultural diversity. Basing on the analysis of the main characteristics of ethnic relations the author attempts to develop socio-cultural approach to the role of tolerance on the institutional and ordinary levels. Special attention is paid to consideration of the model of improvement of inter-ethnic relations among young people, interpretation of functional importance of tolerance in this process, and, in this context, the justification of the need to explore this process in terms of ethno-cultural mosaic.
