Annotation

In the given article the authors prove relevance of the competence approach in the higher professional pedagogical education and analyse various approaches to the definitions of the notions “competence” and “competency”. They also determine their structure and correlation. The article considers cultural and professional competencies necessary for prospective teachers, as well as content and structure of the scientific-research competency, and reveals ways and means of its development.
