Annotation

The article covers historical discourse of evolutionary development of the organizational-functional mechanism of the higher school and includes the following issues: monastic model, French state focused model and German democratic model. The authors feel sure that studying these models makes it possible to understand reasons for crisis conditions in the nation higher school more clearly. The authors offer one of the promising ways to develop Russian higher school that consists in designing new form integrating traditional forms of university performance with new independent market relations and freedom for university administrative decisions.
