Annotation

The article deals with developing philological competence of students-foreigners learning Russian. The author focuses on the role of the given competence in future expert activity, gives definition to the hypothesis and key points of philological com­petence. The author singles out components of philological competence (linguistic, general humanitarian, aesthetic, strategic, information, personal, self-educational, culture of reading and culture of aesthetic perception of the reality) and distinguishes basic levels of philological competence, referred to as basic, professional-pedagogical, specialized.
