Annotation

The article provides brief analysis the role, place and value of such socio-cultural phenomenon as formation. Value of education in various branches is defined: personal value of education, public value of education, state value of education. Education as reproduction of culture has been formed as certain system inside of which different subsystems can be differentiated. System-making factor of educational system is the purpose of education, i.e. the answer to the question, what kind of a personality the society demands and expects at the given stage of its historical development.
