THE STRUCTURE OF THE CONCEPT “INTERCULTURAL COMMUNICATIVE COMPETENCE” AND ITS APPLICATION IN TEACHING FOREIGN LANGUAGES

Annotation

The article deals with formation of intercultural communicative competence that underlies teaching foreign languages. Requirements of modern time are those that simply linguistic knowledge and-or communicative skills should not become the ultimate goal of foreign language teaching. Teaching foreign languages, according to the authors, should be aimed at building a well-organized hierarchical structure which forms absolutely new quality, shown in interaction of linguistic personalities in socio-cultural environment, complex system of concrete competences, providing effective participation of a person in a communicative event. As for communication, the authors understand it as delivering and understanding information of cognitive kind, exchanging knowledge and skills during speech interaction of two or more linguistic personalities. Intercultural communication is understood as a dialogue of cultures, dialogue of linguistic personalities, an ability to carry out interactive communication
