Annotation

The article shows that the concept “socialization” considerably varies in different concepts of personality development. Socialization is defined as the process of personal adaptation to the conditions of social environment. The following levels of adaptation are considered by the authors: purposeful conformism, mutual tolerance, accommodation and assimilation. The authors bring into focus the idea that by means of socialization society reproduces its social system, keeps social structures, forms and social standards, stereotypes as well as group, class, ethnic, professional standards and patterns of role behavior. The main steps or stages of socialization are mentioned in the article. Mechanisms of interiorization and exteriorization and their role in socialization are described in detail.
