GROUNDING THE NEED OF INNOVATIVE CHANGES IN EDUCATIONAL THEORY AND PRACTICE: PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT AS EDUCATIONAL VALUE

Annotation

The article shows that theories and concepts of personality development mainly deal with the phenomenon of personality, one’s becoming and development in various socio-cultural contexts. The author offers her own definition of the concept “education”, its role in development of personality and creation of personal image. Higher education is considered as the key strategic direction of development of many countries in the world and as the major resource for development of each separate person and mankind as a whole. The author states that nowadays there is an urgent need for innovative activity aimed at creation of educational establishments of a new type, selection of new curricula, development of psychological technologies and forms of their functioning. The key directions of humanization in education are singled out: problems of self-actualization, self-control, self-realization of personality, search for life senses, purposeful and value-focused behavior, creativity, freedom of choi
