Annotation

The article is devoted to some pressing questions of teaching history of music, in particular, teaching history of the Russian music as the foreign culture. Learning history of the Russian music by foreign students is interfaced a lot with complexities connected with mental features, distinctions in the organization of education system, methodical aspects and a whole set of other factors. The article touches upon some aspects of this topic with reference to teaching the work of the Great Russian composer P.I. Tchaikovsky to Chinese students in the course “History of foreign music”. P.I. Tchaikovsky is the central figure, acquaintance with whom makes it possible to get the widest idea of development of Russian musical art. The authors undertook an attempt to find the effective modern approach to studying Tchaikovsky’s work on the basis of synthesis of national pedagogical traditions of China and the Russian experience in the field of professional music education.
