TO THE ISSUE OF QUALITY OF ACOUSTIC PHONEMIC SKILLS OF PRIMARY SCHOOL CHILDREN (EXEMPLIFIED BY LEARNING THE UKRAINIAN LANGUAGE)

Annotation

The article deals with acoustic phonemic skills of primary school children as specific units of their sensory sphere. The author presents criteria-based model for measuring quality of phonemic skills and content of tasks for their diagnostics. The article describes the way children distinguish between vowels and consonant phonemes (palatalized/non-palatalized, voiced/voiceless) as well as the level of mastering inter-element relations in the system of speech sound standards. The author also touches upon children’s ability to reproduce the sound form of a word. Levels of acoustic phonemic skills of primary school pupils generated in current pedagogical practice are stated in the paper.
