SOME FEATURES OF LIFE-PURPOSE ORIENTATIONS OF STUDENTS OF VARIOUS GENERATIONAL GROUPS

Annotation

The article presents results of the research focused on study and comparison of life-purpose orientations of students belonging to various generational groups. The author states that life-purpose orientations of modern students have undergone certain changes compared with students of the 1990s. Modern students are characterized by commitment, having high ambitions in life which make daily existence meaningful, focused, with clear time perspective. As for the scale indicator “locus 18 control – I” it has decreased which stands for disbelief in one’s abilities to control events in own life. The author proves that life-purpose orientations of modern students are quite contradictory: on the one hand, under conditions of drastic changes in Russia, youth continues to be quite purposeful, determined and isn’t inclined to daydream.
