CRITERIA OF CHOOSING CLOTHES BY MODERN GIRLS IN CONNECTION WITH THEIR GENDER IDENTITY
Annotation
Gender approach to personality research is actively developing in national psychology. Relevance of this research focus is connected with the fact that in modern society male and female roles in different spheres of life are changing dramatically. Former ideas concerning male and female patterns become obsolete, being replaced 17 by more complicated behavioral patterns. It also concerns some features of choosing outfits, since they become means of self-presentation of an individual in interpersonal relations. In many respects appearance has a huge impact on the attitude towards a person from people around and, consequently, on the success of one’s ambitions and plans. The research findings confirm the hypothesis that criteria of choosing the style and type of clothes by girls are determined by their gender identity. Feminine girls tend to wear less practical clothes, prefer dresses, skirts, mini-skirts, blouses to emphasize the belonging to female gender. For masculine girls, cloKey words
