IMPROVING QUALITY OF FOREIGN-LANGUAGE PREPARATION AT HIGHER SCHOOL BY MEANS OF TECHNOLOGIES OF DISTANT EDUCATION (THE CASE OF TEACHING LISTENING)

Annotation

The authors of the article claim that modern system of higher education should not only provide pupils with fundamental and applied knowledge, but, owing to rapid updating of knowledge in the digital era, develop certain skills of self-education, including in the sphere of foreign language learning. In this regard, the article is devoted to some features of teaching listening at English classes at higher education institutions by means of technology. According to the paper, this approach will help to improve quality of language training and motivation of students. The authors have revealed great opportunities offered by a wide range of distant educational technologies in relation to teaching listening in a foreign language and they share practical experience of the use of distant technologies, such as laboratory practicum, web quests, web conferences, role-playing games, electronic textbooks and web projects.
