SIMILAR TRENDS AND FACTORS AFFECTING THE DEVELOPMENT OF MENTAL RETARDATION IN THE US AND RUSSIAN SCIENTIFIC TRADITIONS
Annotation
The article deals with a new and intensively developing area of pedagogical science, i.e. comparative special education. The abstract is intended for researches and teachers working in special education. The author analyses similar trends in search of main approaches to mental retardation studies in the USA and Russia. The conclusions presented in the article reveal similar factors and trends in the area of study. The most important of them are: closely connected branches of science, participation of the state, role of volunteering educators, public, national and parent organizations, economic stability of the society, global context of the scientific development, social demand of the society, etc.Key words
