Annotation

The article gives a cultural and historical retrospect of the problems of upbringing of children of different sexes and explain methodological and theoretical grounds of the gender-role upbringing of preschool children. Each historical period is characterised by changes in interpretation of masculinity and femininity, in the ideology of gender-role education and upbringing and methods of raising children of both sexes. Gender-role education is considered to be a social and cultural process based of cultural traditions of upbringing and understanding of modern behaviour patterns by girls and boys.
