Annotation

As it is well known, the main function of mathematics is its practical application for solution of any problems arising in people’s life. Therefore, the author finds it necessary to improve constantly the applicability of school mathematics course and to search new ways for its improvement. The given article deals with some practical ways of measuring areas of geometrical figures at secondary school. Their application, in the author’s opinion, will facilitate teaching process and create better awareness of the mathematical concept “area” as well as to lead to improvement of practical skills for calculating geometrical figures areas.
