WHAT DOES MATHEMATICS STUDY? PHILOSOPHICAL AND CATEGORICAL ANALYSIS

Annotation

The article raises the question of connections between mathematics and life. The analysis is based on a simple example about a box with color pencils, considered from different sides. As a result, the author describes six qualitative conditions of any object: uniformity – connectivity – complexity – structure – constructibility – system aspect. According to the author, vision of mathematics as science about development of logical means of reflection represents its applied essence as sciences about modeling, and from this point of view, it is considered as applied science. Vision of mathematics as science about developing structures shows its fundamental character, applied to any content of an object.
