Annotation

The paper is devoted to one of the most widely discussed problems in modern pedagogy. The article provides brief characteristic and classification of educational systems and some periods in their historical development. Features of the modern period of development of learner-centered education as well as the key priorities of modern educational system are defined. The main features of the system approach and feature of its use in development of educational systems are stated by the author. The article covers certain features of educational system and the principal stages of its development. According to the system approach, the model of an educational system in higher school is offered. It allows solving problems of teaching and educational process in complex. Brief characteristic of each component of educational system enables to estimate its role in general functioning of the system.
