DEVELOPING THE IMAGE OF A TRADE AS THE RESOURCE OF PEDAGOGICAL SUPPORT OF PROFESSIONAL SELF-DETERMINATION

Annotation

The article reveals the main approaches to studying personal and professional self-determination. Special attention is given to connection between various theoretical concepts of professional self-determination and research into age-related features of the person. According to the author, two ideas dominate in modern professional guidance: idea of differentiation and the assumption that claims that the choice of a trade is caused by the choice of a social status desirable in society, desirable life style. Considering choice of a trade to be the choice of the future style of life, the author emphasizes the fact that trade itself and everything connected with it are presented in mind in the form of images. The role and function of images in professional self-determination are revealed. The analysis of the concepts “image” and “image of a trade” in the context of pedagogical activity aimed at support of professional self-determination is offered in the article.
